Holiday Pinterest Dessert

I am happy to say my 4th of July Pinterest dessert was a hit!

Here was the original pin

I prepped the ingredients the night before, because I knew I would be hanging out in the morning at Brandon's brother and sister-in-law's house while the boys started the day with some Frisbee golf (they are a bit obsessed!)

the supplies - (plus a book of brownie mix)

I cut up all the strawberries and blueberries and stored them in the fridge overnight

 I baked the brownies and cover them over night to let them cool

When I got to their house in the morning, I grabbed all the supplies and began to put the skewers together. I cut and broke apart the brownies (which next time I will need to make a little thicker... mine turned a bit cakey).  I built up a combination of the blueberries, strawberries, brownies and marshmallows.

Could not have been simpler!
pardon the iphone quality!
I was able to make two batches to take to the two different parties we went to and everyone raved about them!
I have to say I love a good, successful, Pinterest project!  I will have to try a few more fruit skewer combos for more summer cookouts!

Weekend Catch-up

No real wild and crazy Shenanigans over here this weekend, but it was a productive one for the wedding to-do list!
First, I would like to say that I felt like the only person in the United States that worked on Friday, but I sucked it up and listened later as everyone talked about their fun 4 day weekend!
After a Saturday morning of playing with the beagle puppies at the farm (finally got to take them out of their box and let them run around in the grass, well, more wobble around… they are so stinkin cute!!) Brandon and I headed to Men’s Wharehouse to pick out the tuxedos for the guys.  We looked around at some of the options but I am pretty happy that Brandon went with the one I had liked last time we looked.  I left the choice totally up to him (with the exception of no camo!) since he didn’t get a say in the girl’s dress… only fair right?
We went with the Vera Wang suits.  I love that they have the classic tux suit, nothing fancy or flashy to it!  I can’t wait to see the guys all dressed up!

Then Sunday, while Brandon was at work, I met with the DJ to sign our contract and figure out where his set-up would be at the reception venue.  He is a great guy and I am excited he will be our DJ in September!
Straight from the meeting with him I walked out onto the beach (the reception venue is amazing… I don’t think I can say that enough)  to meet my friend Lauren to soak up some beach time.  It could not have been a prettier day at the beach, the sun was shining and the water was perfect!  My ability to apply sunscreen effectively was gravely lacking…oh the burn! But it was so nice to catch up with all Lauren’s job hunting adventures (Dr. Lauren that is, J she graduated Vet school in May)
Now it’s back to Monday!  How was your guys’ weekend?  Linking-up with Sammi!

High Five for Friday!

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July!
I am back in the office today, and the goal for this Friday will be to stay awake! hmmm let's see if I can make it to five!

Let's kick-off this weekend with a little High Five for Friday link-up with Lauren at Lauren Elizabeth!

{one}
high five to me for getting in a work-out in on my lunch breaks every work day this week!  bikini season/wedding prep can be some pretty intense motivation!

 {two}
never in a million years did I think I would need to buy 4 yards of camo fabric for my wedding, but man do I love that country boy (the suprise was spoiled, so B knows that him and the boys are getting special  reception attire, but I get all the pictures I want in their regular tux first!)

 {three}
Finally got a much needed haircut on Wednesday and saw a big rainbow on the way into the shop!

 {four}
made some yummy pinterest-inspired 4th of July treats for our cook-outs yesterday.  they were a hit!

 {five}
spent the whole day with Brandon's family for the 4th and baby Tenleigh, Brandon's neice, was definitely the center of attention!

Happy 5th of July, a two cup of coffee kind of day!

Perfect weekend wear

I am currently loving this shorts and cardigan look for the weekends!  The sweater is perfect for inside events and errands, but the shorts keep you from melting and heat stroke once you step outside.  These amazing wedges from target are the perfect shoe to tie this whole outfit together.

{please note that besides the arm party, this outfit is from target, head to toe!}

Floral fest Monday

Saturday morning I was up early and out to the flower shop to talk with our florist about bouquets.   I have an irrational fear that all the flowers are going to wilt the morning of our wedding and look like death, so floral displays are not high on my must have list.  In fact, I am sticking with the ‘can’t die’ type of centerpieces and using flowers strictly for bouquets and boutonnieres.
The lady at the wholesale florist shop was great; she had even squeezed my early morning appointment into the shops busy schedule.  The shop was full of buckets of beautiful flowers.  I walked around trying to learn the names {I have zero knowledge when it comes to flowers}.
We sat down and discussed the number of arraignments we would need and what we were looking for.  I promptly pulled out pictures I had seen on pinterest and explained which parts I loved!  She took one look at the pictures, ran to the back and came out with just what I was looking for!  We talked about trading out some colors, she made some notes and we were done!  Easy enough, and one more thing off the to do list!
Here were my "inspiration pictures"

 And here is the bouquet she put together

I have learned that I love hydrengas, succulents and tiffany roses... who knew!

What are your favorite flowers?  Did you have big floral centerpieces at your wedding?
