WIWTW - what i wanted to wear

As a tribute to Ireland, Virginia decided it wanted to mimic the dreary, rainy, cold of the hills of the country on St. Patrick's Day!

This put a damper on the outfit planning

So here is a picture of what I wanted to wear -

fun spring colors, gold sparkly cardigan (hadn't added the accessories yet)

And after one step outside, here is what I walked back up stairs and put on

i still had to go with the pink pants... they're just to fun

So I will have to put my spring outfit away for another, warmer day.  A day that is hopefully right around the corner

Wedding Wednesday - our venue

I love the beach! The waves, the sand, the sound, the air; it is heaven.
When it came to picking out our reception venue, I headed straight for the shore.  Luckily for us, that is only a quick 15 minute drive down the road from my parent’s home.
I originally got the contact info for our venue when my sister, mom and I were there for a wedding expo.   I went to a few other places along the water, but comparing the prices, the menu and the view… our pick won out on all fronts.

this view made me squeal!! i knew this was the place
We will have our reception at the Surf Club Ocean Grille in the Wyndham Hotel at the Virginia Beach Oceanfront.
The day Brandon and I took his parent’s to brunch to show off our spot, the sun was shining, the weather was perfect and the dolphins were literally jumping in the water through the window view from our table!  Let’s just say that brunch sealed the deal!
our windy day at brunch
Our venue will also host all of our catering and bar, so those boxes are checked on the to do list.  And the food is delicious, so win, win!
Here are some pictures from our walk through a few weeks back.  They were setting up for a wedding that afternoon.  It had snowed the evening before, and let me just say to look out and see the sand covered in snow was pretty sweet!

I am working now on putting together an inspiration board for the decorations.  It is such an amazing spot, and I think even by itself it could great.   But a few touches here and there, it is going to look amazing!

High Five for Friday

Linking up with Lauren  at From My Grey Desk for her weekly High Five for Friday!!

I could ramble on past 5, but here is what I am loving!!

{one}
I am going to lump last Friday night in with this week's high five, cause it was that awesome!

thank you for a fantastic time Holly!
I got to see my BFF!!!!  for dinner and drinks when I went up to Northern Virginia for the weekend.

I took the metro into the city, all by myself, and met Holly for dinner and drinks at Matchbox (delicious spot if you are ever in DC).  We talked and laughed for hours!  It was so needed and I get so sad when I think about how easy it use to be to drive the mile to her house, and that now, she is living the big life in DC.  We talked weddings (she is my bridesmaid), vacations, work, blogging, cheerleading, house building.. everything and anything.

{two}
The rest of the weekend I spent with two other fabulous friends of mine (also bridesmaids!) and their men!  Heather, her husband, Rob and I all crashed for the weekend at Katey and Nick's place.  We took zero pictures, which we discussed immediately after we all got on the road to head home.  Epic fail... but sometimes the chatting and couch lounging gets in the way!

We spent the weekend exploring Alexandria, shopping and eating... it was perfect!  I have such amazing friends, I don't know how I got so lucky!

The October trip to Pennsylvania (where Rob and Heather live) has already been put into the calendar.  But a trip in between will be scheduled soon enough!

{three}
Possible new advertising side job opportunity for me in the near future.  I don't want to jinx it, but I am getting excited... and studying up too!

{four}
I think this cold weather funk is behind us.

After of course, a lovely impromptu snow fall Wednesday morning.  But from what the weather man is saying (and he is never wrong, right?) we should be looking at sunny skies and warmer temps... at least through the weekend.

{five}
I think I found a bridesmaid dress!! Woo hoo!!!
the picture can not do this color justice... it is much more green than blue
I saw a dress in a catalog that I just had to see in person!  It finally came this morning and the color is exactly what I was looking for! Planning to have my sister/maid of honor try it on this weekend to see how it looks.  Eekk it is getting close!!

What are you loving about this past week?

Wedding Wednesday

I have a problem...  I am in love with organization!  I love everything about it.  I love reading tips, reading about the latest trends, and buying every new tool out there.

But I guess that's not the problem, it's my love to change my organizing 'technique' every week!

I have literally re-done my filing system once already this year, and have the supplies to do it again next week... it's a sickness I tell you.

Well now with the wedding planning in full force, I can't decide where to start, or continue!

So, per usual, I went on the hunt for a new "system" since my giant notebook (which was already idea number3) wasn't doing it for me.

Pink Pants

So I picked up these awesome pastel pink pants with a hint of sparkle from Target (and they were on sale... win, win!)

not the exact pair... but it's the closest I can find.  hit up your target sale section while they last!

Now the challenge is, how do you wear pink pants and not look like a fool?!

Here is my first idea.  It screams Spring (so loud you might be able to hear it a few towns over) but who doesn't like a little spring inspired wardrobe waiting for you when this dreaded cold front is over?!

What are your thoughts?  Would you dare wear pink pants?

Babies!!!

Congratulations to one of my best friends Denise on the birth of her little boy, Tyler!!

Denise, her husband, Keith, and their other little mister, Ethan live in Pennsacola, Florida and it makes me sad that I can run over and snuggle that adorable little baby!
But I will wait patiently to get to see this new little guy!

Oh, baby fever... you are creeping in!!
