Weekend Wear - Summer Dress

The best piece in a summer wardrobe is the simple summer dress.  The piece you can wear to all occasions, from lawn parties to dinner dates.  That can be squished in your carry-on for a quick weekend away.  And that leaves you feeling your best when you wear it.

This coral dress fits the bill.  It can so easily be dressed up or down and can change looks with a different belt or statement piece.  It even looks great with flats or wedges (and I am obsessed with these wedges, so this look is often on repeat!)

This will be my go to for a weekend birthday party for my brother.  A pool side cook out is what the birthday boy has requested, and I am definitely looking forward to some family time in the sun!

What is your best summer wardrobe piece?

Casual Date Night Look

I love that the chambray shirt trend is still going strong.  The look of a great chambray top with white pants is my idea of a perfect summer look (well let's be honest, anything with a great pair of white pants is perfect)!

We had cooler weather this weekend and this outfit was just what a casual date night called for.

Shop the Look
We recently joined the Country Club here in our little town.  It has golf for Brandon, the pool for me and a restaurant for weekend dinner dates for us!

It's a small little spot, tucked in the woods but finding these little new to us places has been the best past of moving out to the country.

What is your idea of a great date?

Summer Days

Now that everyone's closets are stuffed to the brim with the best fall pieces from the big sale at Nordstrom people are wishing the summer days away.  I say nooo, I am finally getting my butt in gear for bikini season and believe I have finally learned the proper way to use suntan lotion... only took 28 years of the glowing lobster look!  I say leave the blanket scarves and riding boots in the back of the closet for a bit longer while we enjoy August with full summer love.

And besides... I am just starting to love color again and am not ready to turn in my corals and mint for deep reds and brown quite yet!

Weekend Wear

A perfect end to to our last outerbanks adventure was a trip to the outlets!  My sister, cousin and I made our way down to check iout all the great shops.  We grabbed some cute new pieces (including some goodies from the kitchen store...) and I found the perfect way to show my love for the weekend.

This comfy tee is the best lazy day wear! If only the weekday looked this good on me (insert winky face!).

Plain Tee

I have a growing love for the plain t-shirt.  It's a simple piece that you can mix with great piece of statement jewelry, leave it causal for an effortless look or match it with that pair of shorts that are a statement all their own.    And what better kind of plain tee then the kind with the perfect soft feel that isn't so sheer you need a cami (because layers in this Virginia heat are not your friend!).

Grabbed this great top from Target and it is definitely one of my weekend go to pieces!  Paired with these perfect summer wedges and you are ready for a day around town!

Packing my bags and hitting the road

I am wrapping up the week early and heading north to the beach in New Jersey for a weekend get-a-way with family.  The weather may not look ideal for beach bumming, but my bags are almost packed and I am ready to go.
I thought I would share a little of my outfit choices for the weekend before it iswas rolled and stuffed into my luggage (rolling really is the best way to pack).
I can not wait to wear these amazing new lounge pants.
Pants: New York & Co | Shirt: New York and Co | Sandals: Tommy Hilfiger
Obsessed with white pants may be an understatement.

Pants: Joe Fresh | Shirt: H & M | Sandals: American Eagle

Now I am not quite sure where the weather may lead us, I figured you can’t head to a beach house and not throw at least one bikini in the bag.

I did manage to stash in a dress and workout clothes because, well I am a compulsive over packer… opps!

I love to include outfit pieces that I can mix and match that can leave me set for any situation.  What are your favorite things to pack for a weekend away?

Weekend Maxis

I love a good maxi dress!  It is the perfect solution to a Saturday morning spent staring in the closet for an easy outfit to wear.

I stumbled across this piece last year when searching for a bridal shower guest outfit.  Thank goodness for Instagram love and the “yes get it!” replies I received during my dressing room dilemma (the hardest dilemmas in life right?!) because this great piece came home with me.

Gotta love the detail!

Brunching Wear

With the 'no white pants before memorial day' long gone, I figure it is acceptable to pull out the white skirts too.  With a floral overlay pattern on the skirt and a distressed look to this chambray top, this outfit is a definite go to for a Sunday brunch with the family.

Jump - Jump

Jumpsuits are everywhere these days and the more I see them the more I am convinced they are a must-have for spring.  I am mentally hanging them in my closet, setting aside neutral wedges and picking the perfect clutch with a pop of color to complete the look.

While I know they are the perfect look this spring, I am not one to spend a lot on such a trendy piece so I have rounded up some great jumpsuit picks that won’t break the bank this season.

Though # 3 may fall more overalls than jumpsuit, I had to share that piece too.  That one definitely will be finding a home with me soon!  Whoever thought overalls could look so good.

What are your thoughts on the jumpsuit trend, love it or leave it?

Skirts & Stripes

Mixing a sweet and classic look with comfort has been my outfit mantra this winter.  I love finding a feminine look and adding comfort pieces to make these cooler winter days more manageable.

I could live in leggings and boots so they appear pretty often on most of my go-to looks.  Paired with this light skirt and dark striped top, these pieces go seamlessly together.

Pantone Love

Last year Pantone picked Emerald Green for their color of the year, not a favorite if you ask me, but when this year's choice came out and Radiant Orchid hit the masses, I was in love!

I keep a fairly neutral wardrobe (which I kick myself over every morning as I scour to pick something a bit more exciting to wear than black) but I knew I wanted a way to show off this year's color.
So I grabbed a scarf, probably one of the easiest and practical accessories around!

Thrown on with a simple black top and white capris and I am set!

Are you loving Pantone's choice?  How do you wear you favorite colors?

With one more sleep till Valentine's Day, I am sharing my favorite Simply Style Boutique top.
And with the day of love falling on Friday, a work day, I thought I would dress the look up for the office, and down for a casual date night (which is just how Brandon and I roll..)
