Loving Lately: 8 Tote-ally Great Bags for Back-to-School!

A fresh start is the best feeling whether it be a new year, a new job, even just a new day!  When the possibilities ahead are endless and the journey has yet to begin I get the biggest rush!

This is probably why I was the nerdy kid who was excited for the start of a new school year!  So much to look froward to and I couldn't wait to begin!  Even better than a new school year?  New school supplies; sharp pencils, sharpies with a perfect point and a clean new notebook, the best!

Adult life doesn't have the same fresh start feeling year after year but I think the new fall season can be a mini fresh start and new bag for work shopping may help me live vicariously through those heading back to school.

So as I do a little eenie-meenie-minnie-mo on which new bag will help me kick off fall, take a lot at some great choices for those lucky ladies heading back to campus!

Lilly for Days

Back again today to talk about the other pieces from the Lilly for Target line that have caught my eye.  It is taking some restraint to not want to scoop up every home piece and decorate the house in the brightest of patterns.  I mean, how cute is their hammock?  Nothing says summer like lemonade on a summer day while lounging in a hammock.

Well before I obsess any more on Lilly deck decor, let me show you the other picks from Target I am eyeing.

Bags, blankets and bows oh my!  What pieces are on your wishlist?  Find your favorite pieces here?

Loving Lilly

The upcoming Lilly for Target collaboration has me giddy and so impatient for the weekend!
The line will be available on Sunday, April 19th.  The line will be online as early as midnight CST (I have not seen an exact time yet) and in store on Sunday when they open.  The lookbook online is a great way to check out the pieces and price out what you are drooling over.

I went ahead and scoped out some of my favorite pieces and am sharing my clothing picks today.  The Lilly line comes complete to Target with a girls and toddler line, home line and beauty line as well.

Some pieces will only be available online, so when planning your Sunday shopping trip, be sure to note which ones you will not find on the store racks.

What dresses and prints are you loving from Lilly?

Jump - Jump

Jumpsuits are everywhere these days and the more I see them the more I am convinced they are a must-have for spring.  I am mentally hanging them in my closet, setting aside neutral wedges and picking the perfect clutch with a pop of color to complete the look.

While I know they are the perfect look this spring, I am not one to spend a lot on such a trendy piece so I have rounded up some great jumpsuit picks that won’t break the bank this season.

1  ||  2  ||  3  ||  4  ||  5  ||  6  ||  7  ||  8

Though # 3 may fall more overalls than jumpsuit, I had to share that piece too.  That one definitely will be finding a home with me soon!  Whoever thought overalls could look so good.

What are your thoughts on the jumpsuit trend, love it or leave it?

Simple Christmas Wishlist

It's that time of year again, the time to send a wish list to my parents before they cancel Christmas (as usual, mom is threatening to cancel if she has to guess what we all want).

My mother loves specific lists with links and clothing sizes (and lets be honest, gifts you have been eyeing are much more exciting to see under the tree).  So I sat down this weekend to put a small little wish list together.

1. I am loving the red travel thermos and think it would make my morning commute a little more cheery
2. Love a big gold watch
3. again... fan of the big watches so another in white just makes sense, right?
4. I have been obsessing over these open sweaters and definitely see this as a comfy go-to piece
5. You can never have enough comfy pieces, right?
6. My make-up collection is in definite need of a overhaul, so a Sephora giftcard would be perfect!
7. My feet are always cold and I have finally worn through my latest pair, so slippers are a must!  The hard bottoms are perfect for popping outside with the dog for puppy bathroom breaks.

What are you hoping to find under the tree this year?

Weekend Recap

Monday is the poor red-headed step child of the whole week, but I personally thinks it brings the hatred upon himself.

I am spending this lovely day of the week at an early morning appointment at the "lady" doctors.  These visits only come once a year, but oh how I dread them.  I would rather visit the dentist monthly if I could skip this violating exam (though I do have to say I love the PA I see, she could not be sweeter).
After the exam I am treating myself to a shopping trip at Target and lunch and laptop time!

But before I get undressed in a cold exam room, lets reminisce about this weekends adventures, which were a tad more fun!

Friday night after work I swung by the gelato/smoothie shop my brother helps run to drop off the snowboard gear he lent Brandon (it was a boys only trip :( )  I tried out their beyond delicious Rice Krispy Treat gelato and grabbed a to-go container to win "World's Best Aunt" award with my nephews.  My sister and I were going out for the night, so dessert was their constellation prize for hanging out at home with dad.
{Check out Strawberry Fields if you are in Norfolk, Virginia}

My sister and I went out to our favorite pub right up the street for dinner and drinks.  We always have the best time out and the band was even nice enough to let us to give some song requests.  We kept it classic 90's... of course!

I spent the night at my sisters because of the ice still out on the roads (and a beer or two at her house when we got home).  I woke up to a "good morning" from my 2-year old nephew and then we watched a riveting episode of Curious George.

Then I popped over my parents to say hi, then hit the mall for a little shopping trip.  I remembered as soon as I entered the parking lot why I loathe the mall.  People's driving skills remind me of the first day of Driver's Ed and the amount of people in one space inside those stores gets crazy.  And while I love getting new clothes, trying them on may be the least fun activity ever.  So after an hour of window shopping, and a successful splurge at Old Navy, I took one lap through Forever 21, felt like I was 60 (kid's these days.. geeze) and I was out!
{Still obsessed with mint and can not wait to wear these gems from Old Navy}

I drove down to meet Brandon at his buddies place where they had been hunting all day and while the guys pounded their chests over beers, I sat inside with Chris' wife and their adorable little baby.  We had the best time and Jax's was such an adorably happy baby, the kind that gives you baby fever.

Sunday Brandon had to work so after making him coffee I went back to bed and lounged.  After a nice big cup of coffee for myself I cleaned up a bit and got to work on my skirt project!
{The light doesn't give it justice.  I can't wait to make more!}

  Huge success if I may say so myself, check back later this week for all the details!

But now we are back to counting down to Friday and I am now going to spend the afternoon getting Brandon's car detailed as a surprise for his birthday while he is away this week because I am that great of a wife (just kidding... I spilled coffee all over the driver's seat this morning and I too embarrassed to tell him - they don't call me Hurricane Emily for nothing!)

Christmas Wishlist

As December 25th draws near it’s time to whip up my Christmas Wish/Lust list!!

1.       I am loving this cell phone case. The choices at Rifle Paper Co. making picking just one pretty tough!
2.       The rolling cooler, I have bigger ideas for this one!  I lug tons of bags into the office with me every day, and would love to have a rolling catch all to make mornings a little bit easier.  And the print and monogram are just icing on the cake!
3.       These Hunter rainboots!  I lust for these!!
4.       CND Vinylux nailpolish!  These are a must.  If you have not tried this amazing nail polish rush to amazon.com to get yourself some.
5.       Polka dot stockings would be perfect with a cute skirt and booties.
6.       A new monogramed necklace.  I loved my old one my parent’s had given me for my birthday years ago, but new husbands mean new initals!
What are you hoping Santa will bring you this year!?
