{Five on Friday}... is back!

It is Friday and the lovely ladies are back with the Five on Friday link-up!

Join Darci, Christina, April and Natasha and share your Five on Friday.
 {one}
This past weekend I had the honor of standing by my college roommates side as she became a wife!  We have loved Nick from the beginning and as our "girl's weekends" started to slowly get overtaken by the husbands and boyfriends, he has fit right in!

with my oh so favorite Heather!
roomie love <3
bridesmaid usies with our favorite redheaded bride front and center!
 We had such an amazing time with my college friends and I am missing the weekend so much already!
{two}
After a pinterest binge evening a few months back I came across a wedding ceremony seating sign and sent it right over to Katey.  We both loved it so I promised I would have one for her at the wedding so I got to work (well let's be honest... I put it off forever and finished it the week before the ceremony)

I loved how it turned out and will be sharing a how-to post soon!
 {three}
To start off fall and to celebrate our first season in our new home I made some door décor Wednesday night!

{four}
And while in my full craft mode, I went into a fabric store that I discovered in town and I went into idea overload!  We are in desperate need of house décor and I plan to spend the weekend pinning some new ideas, setting up my sewing machine in the new office, and getting to work!
kind of loving the gray!
{five}
 We have a weekend with very few places to go which means I will finally get to spend two full days unpacking and organizing (and decorating)!  I can't wait to feel a little more settled in!

{any unpacking, decorating or housekeeping tips are much appreciated!!}

My name is Emily and I am a Planner Junkie

A few weeks back, Brandon and I walked into an Office Max to pick up some office supplies.  He mentioned he needed a planner and within 5 minutes of being in the isle he had picked the one he wanted.  I was floored...  I love a new planner, one of the best feelings is cracking the binding on a new year and planning all the greatness ahead.  When I pick a planner I do research.  I read articles, check out reviews, scour blogs for real everyday use tips and tricks, I go a little crazy.  After about a 3 month search I pick my planner and can't wait to start filling it.
 So here we stand in the midst of the search for the perfect 2015 planner and I am staring down some pretty great options.

 1. Kate Spade - Week planner, simple lines for each day.
2. Emily Ley Simplified Planner - Comes in both Week and Day planner (nice options Emily!)
3. The Day Designer by Whitney English - Daily Planner
 I currently am using The Day Designer for 2014 and I love all the planning aspects and guidance of Whitney's design.  Do I leave comfort of this great planner behind and try something new?
What planner are you looking at for this year?  Am I missing any great options?

#MovinonUpton

Building our first home has been a journey.  We stayed with my in-laws near our lot so we could watch the progress.  Some days were so rewarding as we saw tons of progress while we were away at work, and other days I wanted to rip my hair out wondering what was taking so long!!
My favorite evening activity became going to the property and taking pictures of all the details and now that we are moved in, it is fun to look back as at it all come together.
Here is a little glimpse at our building adventure! (Prepare for picture overload...)

Holy Blogging Break

As I sit in our OWN kitchen and type on my little laptop my heart is exploding with excitement over finally being in our home!
We have moved in this week and while we are nowhere near all settled in, we have the kitchen unpacked, a bed in the master bedroom and our living furniture set up in front of the tv for Football watching (Brandon’s top priority, of course!).
I have big plans for this little ole’ blog of mine and now that I have a space to create, I can’t wait to begin… again!
Happy Blogging!!

After Sun

A perfect day to me is spent on the beach with family and friends.  I could spend hours lounging in a beach chair, swimming in the waves and taking walks in the sand.  But after a long day soaking up the rays, a quick shower and some lotion and aloe is a must!

I have always been a fan of the Hawaiian Tropic suntan lotion (I mean have you smelled the stuff… amazing!) and I have to say their After Sun lotion is the best way to end a beach day.

I first tried the After Sun lotion this past week on a trip to the outer banks and I was sold!  The lotion and aloe gel was the perfect combination to hydrate and smooth my pinkened skin.  And don’t let the aloe fool you, this isn’t the t-shirt sticking to your skin aloe, this lotion rubs in perfectly!

So when packing your beach get-a-way bag this summer, be sure to throw this little beauty in too!

* Hawaiian Tropics After Sun Lotion was sent to me for review but all opinions are all my own.

Beach Necessities

After an amazing week at the beach this past week I am back to reality and feeling a little bummed.  To reminisce and get my mind back to our little get-a-way, I wanted to share my beach necessities for a perfect few hours in the sand.

Beach Neccessities

1.     Beach Towel
2.     Beach Chair: we grabbed these chairs last summer and what a great purchase!  A cooler pack, built in bag, and pillow!  What is not to love? And it scraps the need for an actual beach bag
3.     Easy Beach Read: Love the simple trashy reads!
4.     iPhone
5.     Sunscreen
6.     Cold Beer & Water: I am pretty sure I would be perfectly content with just these two!

What are your must-haves for a beach day?
